Kent County Learning Center has more than 50 highly educated, civic-minded volunteers who provide chidcare, tutoring and mentoring services free of charge.  All volunteers have been trained and have completed background checks.  If you would like to become a part of our team, complete the form below.

Below are listed a series of websites that are helpful for tutors, parents, and students to learn or practice skills or to prepare for tests.

MATHEMATICS

These websites offer instructional videos, practice games and activities for a variety of mathematics topics and grade levels.    

READING AND ENGLISH

These sites provide instruction and practice activities  in a variety of topics including phonics, grammar, and reading comprehension.     

GED®

This is the official GED® testing site.  It explains testing procedures, score results, and technology requirements. Free practice tests are available in both English and Spanish.

COMMON CORE

Khan Academy has mathematics instructional and practice activities by grade level and aligned to the Common Core Curriculum. 

 

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT IN MARYLAND

 

This is a Maryland State Department of Education site that includes Maryland grade level standards and aligned units of study for English and Mathematics. The site explains the Maryland State Assessment and provides sample test items. A standards tool kit with lesson starters is available for science, social studies, government and biology.
